.... does have a social side, we are not a social club.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 years old.
NEW MEMBERS AND VISITORS ARE WELCOME THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.
Our club has a mixed membership of ages abilities and experience from a variety of different backgrounds.
COMING TO A MEETING
Some of our meetings maybe more varied and interesting than others, so we suggest you attend at least 3 meetings to gain a good understanding of how we do things and the scope of our club.
THE FIRST 3 MEETINGS ARE FREE!
Don't panic, you won't be asked to do anything horrible or participate in our meeting - unless you want to! Please sit where you feel most comfortable - at the back is usually a safe bet - have a read of our club brochure and leaflet and enjoy the proceedings. Feel free to ask any members any questions you may have.
There is no obligation or pressure to join - but do expect to be asked!
JOINING UP
Ask for an application form, fill it out and return it with your joining fee. A club member who deals with membership will advise and guide you through.
THE COST
One off Joining fee - $55.00. This covers the cost of the Toastmasters International Fee and the New Member Kit. The kit includes 2 manuals for your first 10 assigned speeches and the first 10 projects for building leadership skills as well as a couple of useful brochures. The cost also includes 2 advanced manuals on completion of the above.
Monthly subscription - $15.00. Includes subscription to Toastmasters International and the monthly "Toastmaster" magazine posted to you.
Club meeting costs also come out of this - room hire, refreshments,etc.
We accept cash or cheque payment for the joining fee.
The monthly subscription is usually paid on an automatic payment.
BEING A MEMBER
All members are encouraged to attend as many meetings as possible. At Toastmasters it's very much a case of getting out as much as you put in. As a new member you will be assigned a mentor to guide you through your first club meetings and assist and advise on the first couple of speeches. You will also be scheduled into the club programme for your speeches and the other meeting roles depending on your progress and experience.
